Speak
This weekend I will have an amazing, and frightening, opportunity. I was fortunate to be asked by Jennifer Smith, author of Wife After God and creator of the site Unveiled Wife, to join her in a meet and greet and motivational session, which takes place on Saturday in Southern Ca. This is the amazing part.
The frightening part. I was also asked to write an encouraging and supportive letter to weary wives...and read it aloud at the event. The writing part was easy. It is the speaking part that has me a little worried.
I am not a public speaker. In fact, it is one of my least favorite things. Although I speak in meetings at work all the time, being on a stage, in front of a large group, that's terrifying.
That being said, when Jen asked me to be a part of the event, I did not hesitate. I felt God nudging me toward to move beyond my comfort zone. Almost immediately, I remembered what He had spoken to me while attending a women's retreat in Hume Lake, last October: keep going, don't give up, speak. At the time, I needed the encouragement of the first two, but was uncertain what He meant by the third. Speak. With this in mind, and in light of my word for 2014, how could I say no to this opportunity? I couldn't.
Since you won't be able to attend the event, I plan to post a link to the letter I wrote, which will be published at Unveiled Wife on Monday. So, stay tuned.
Please pray for me, as I speak to these women the words that God gave me to help strengthen their weary minds, bodies and souls. Also, pray for all the women who attend, that they will be encouraged and uplifted by the experience.

I'm sure you will be fab! What an amazing opportunity! Look forward to reading it :)
I know God will give you the strength to get through this! And think of how many women's hearts you will touch. Also, if you are nervous, you can film yourself at home to see how it looks and sounds :)
What a fantastic opportunity. I know you will be amazing!! God is using this to not only encourage and strengthen you, but for you to encourage and strengthen others as well. Can't wait to hear how it goes.
You will be fantastic! You are already such an inspiration to so many of us here in Blogland, I know that God will use you to reach those women this weekend!
I can't wait to hear more about it. I'd wish you "good luck" but lucky is not necessary when the King of Kings is on your side. You got this!

You got this!!! I can't wait to read the letter. I will say a prayer for you, but I know God will give you the strength. So proud you are stepping out of your comfort zone!
you can do it! When I was asked to be on our church announcements I freaked, but God just gives you the strength, especially when you're doing something for His glory! Practice helps....I have done the ol "practice in front of the mirror thing" and it works...shoot one day you'll be teaching others how to publicly speak. my advice is this: whatever outfit and make-up you feel most comfortable in is what you need to wear on that day...the last thing you should be focused on is if your new lipstick or new shoes look good. go with something you feel confident in so you can focus on the speech. you'll be GREAT!!!
what a wonderful opportunity!!
Wishing you all the best! As someone who does not enjoy public speaking, I can completely relate. But I have a feeling you are going to knock it out of the park!
Praying for you, friend! What a wonderful opportunity to speak God's truth in your life. Can't wait to read it!
Oh my gosh, that sounds so exciting! Have so much fun!!
