Part of that plan was to read through the entire Bible in a year. The other part was to encourage a group of women, as they did the same. I reached out to several of my friends and ended up with a group of eight who wanted to join me in this plan.
As the year went by, my ability to stay on track with the reading varied. This was true for the other women as well. There were technical issues and those that just ran out of the time and energy to read. There were those that never responded to my emails and those that were called to study the Bible in other ways.
Despite these challenges and the feelings of failure I struggled with as the "leader" of this group, I have continued reading. Why? Because I know that reading and studying God's word is important. It changes the way I look at life, which causes changes in my thoughts, attitudes and behaviors.
I know that there are many different opinions about the Bible. I also know that my thoughts about the importance of Bible reading may not be the same as yours. So, what does the Bible say about itself?
Your word is a lamp to guide my feet
and a light for my path.

I am excited that in 95 days (more or less) I will have accomplished my goal of reading the entire Bible. This is my history. It is the basis of my life and faith. I need to know what it says.
Do you read the Bible?

Love those verses!!!! So exciting you will be done with the whole bible! I've never done a reading plan like that, but it sounds awesome :)
this is very encouraging. I also want to start a bible study. its so so so hard to stay on track and I feel like such a terrible Christian because of it.
Proud of you! My husband and I did the Bible in 90 Days challenge last year and I loved it! It was certainly a challenge, but well worth it. I'm reading through the Bible again right now and since I have the foundation from last year it's so cool to actually remember reading these books before, lol.
xoxo
I read everyday. I used to study the word more...but with 3 kiddos...sometimes just reading a verse or two is all I get in...but i make sure to spend time is god presence everyday. loved this!
What a big and awesome accomplishment to have read the whole bible! I like how you said this is my history. It's a beautiful perspective!
I challenged myself to reading the bible cover to cover for the 2012 year (it took me about a month and half longer) I am so glad that I did. I even read the intro to each of the books that my bible has. What a great thing!!
Just for the record....you did not fail as a leader...people go different ways and reading the Bible takes 100% dedication...one I wish I had more of! Congrats on sticking with your conviction!!
every night before i go to bed i read a bit of the bible. i feel that it's special to be alone with the Lord and His words, for it to be the last thing I think about before I fall asleep. LOVED this post!
